Spaghetti Meat / Pasta Sauce
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 29 oz can (or 2 15oz cans) of tomato sauce
- 6 oz can of tomato paste
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried italian seasoning
- 2 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
Directions
- Heat large skillet to medium high heat. Add olive oil and garlic.
- Brown ground beef (or turkey) until no longer pink. Drain fat as necessary.
- Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, and dry ingredients to pan.
- Stir and bring to a boil.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve sauce over cooked spaghetti (according to package directions).
* For plain pasta sauce, skip steps 1 and 2.
** Try adding other ingredients in step 3 such as freshly shredded/grated cheese or vegetables like mushrooms or peppers.
